The Bee’s Knees

There are two types of pollen, which is the plant’s male seed.  One form is light and is blown by the wind to other plants.  The other, is the heavy sticky pollen which sticks to insects and is gathered by bees on their legs for food – hence the customary expression ‘The Bee’s Knees’ meaning ‘the very best’.

Forever owns some of the world’s largest beehive resources in pollution-low environments and uses state-of-the art patented equipment to gather and preserve the ingredients, in conditions as nature intended.  Forever Bee Pollen is made without the addition of flavourings, artificial colourings or preservatives.  Honey is used to bind the grains together to form tablets.

Once known as Ambrosia, bee pollen was ‘the food of the gods’ because it is virtually the perfect food substance.  It is thought that man, with enough water and fibre, could live on bee pollen alone.  Bee pollen contains more nutrients per calories than any other nutritional supplement.

Multi-vitamin and Multi-mineral Supplement

Reduction of stress: the extraordinary presence of B vitamins in pollen builds up our defence shield.

Hay fever Prevention and Relief: one of the main reasons to take bee pollen is that it can prevent or reduce the symptoms of hay fever.  Bee Pollen conditions the individual and can modify an allergic or hypersensitive immune response when the pollen count is high.  Dr Peter Atherton recommends 2-6 tablets a day, taken regularly from April – June, before the anticipated onset of symptoms.  Once the pollen count is high, he recommends that the dose be increased to 3-12 tablets per day.

Fantastic Source of Antioxidants: these are necessary to help fight the damaging effects of free radicals, which can be responsible for minor to serious conditions, including cancer.  As well as containing the antioxidants vitamins A, C and E and selenium, zinc and iron; bee pollen is one of the best sources of antioxidant bioflavonoids.  Reducing antioxidants increases longevity and reduces aging and wrinkling.

Increase in Strength, Energy and Stamina: bee pollen can be valuable for anyone who needs extra energy in special circumstances – during long meetings, in exams, etc – and can be extremely helpful for serious athletes.  In fact, bee pollen is regularly consumed by Olympic athletes.

It provides a quicker recovery from exercise, returns the heart rate to normal and increases muscle growth and definition.  The British Sports Council recorded increases in strength by as high as 40 to 50 per cent in those taking bee pollen regularly.  Even more astounding, the British Royal Society has reported height increases in adults who take bee pollen.  Antti Lananaki, coach of the Finnish track team that swept the Olympics in 1972, revealed, “Most of our athletes take pollen food supplements.  Our studies show it significantly improves their performance.  There have been no negative results since we have been supplying pollen to our athletes.”  (Source: Superfoods, David Wolfe)

Prostate Health: evidence supports improvement in prostate health.  Bee pollen is able to antagonise the effect of the hormone dihydrotesterone which is a factor in developing the enlargement of the prostate.  Bee pollen is a potent aphrodisiac and has fertility-improving properties.

Convalescing Animals: bee pollen is readily absorbed from the digestive system into the blood, boosting blood sugar levels, which makes it very useful for convalescing animals.

Allergic skin conditions in dogs.  Dr David Urch recommends starting the dog on the bee pollen tablets in the winter months before the allergy develops, an average 30kg dog needing one tablet twice a day.  In chronic cases, the dog should stay on bee pollen permanently.

35% Protein – half of this is in the form of 22 amino acids, including all eight ‘essential’ amino acids which the body cannot manufacture for itself.
40% Carbohydrate
5% Fats
3% Minerals – including calcium and phosphorus in an almost perfect 1:1 ratio as well as zinc, selenium and iron.
Remaining 17% – vitamins, trace elements, enzymes and hormones – this includes all the vitamins of the B-complex and vitamin C (water soluble and so need to be taken daily). Bee pollen also contains vitamins D, E, K and beta-carotene (precursor to vitamin A).

Forever advises that a test dose of 1/4 tablet is taken before trying a whole tablet, in case anyone or any animal does have a reaction to the pollen itself.
